CMC Ranked Tenth Best College By U.S. News

U.S. News and World Report listed Claremont McKenna College as the number 10 best liberal arts college on their 2013 National Liberal Arts College Rankings. CMC is tied for the tenth spot with Vassar College.

The report, released September 12 at midnight EST, takes into account a variety of factors for the ranking, including retention rates, class size, standardized test scores, and strength of faculty.

In 2012, U.S. News and World Report ranked CMC the ninth Best Liberal Arts College in the country. This year's ranking represents a one spot drop for CMC.

Max Benavidez, Associate Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications at CMC, said of the 2013 rankings: “We are pleased to be recognized in US News and other rankings. As always, CMC remains committed to our educational mission and to the excellence of our students, faculty, and alumni.”

Other Claremont Colleges made the list as well, with Pomona tied at number four with Middlebury College, Harvey Mudd tied at number 12 with Davidson College, Scripps tied at number 24 with Macalester College, and Pitzer in a three way tie for number 43 with Skidmore and Whitman College.

The U.S. News and World Report page on CMC notes the 14.1% acceptance rate for fall of 2011. For the fall of 2012, CMC had a 12.4% admission rate.
