No Shave November
For the past month, 32 men from CMC have struggled as they experienced the turmoils of "No Shave November": the itchiness of the beard, the random patches that grow here and there, and the point when the facial hair is no longer attractive and simply looks like an animal growing on your face. Only 13 brave men reached the finish line earning themselves each the exclusive No Shave November tank. These men were Anthony Davanzo '16, Ari Davis '13, Brandon D'Ewart '15, Caleb Cunha '15, Camilo Vilaseca '16, Chase Pribble '15, Christian Neumeister '15, Ethan Gilbert '13, Henry Appel '15, Ibrahim Pataudi '14, Joe Dorn '15, Marcellus Demer '16, and Nick Gillette '14.
Carmen Lundell '13 was the only female to last the entire month without shaving - but in her case, she did not shave her armpits as opposed to her face. Carmen is a diver so you can only imagine the embarrassment she had to deal with.
She says: "I had a dive meet halfway through the No Shave November competition. While making friendly conversation with a Pomona-Pitzer diver, I lifted my arm to scratch an itch on my head. I watched the opponent's eyes dart to my underarm, then quickly resume looking at my face. Not so subtle."
In addition to the tank, those who survived till the end were in contention for the grand prize of $300 donated in their name to The Prostate Cancer Foundation. It is important to note that not all finalists were chosen for the voting because the amount of facial hair they grew was so minimal that it can barely be seen on camera - maybe next year!
This is your chance for you to vote for who you think should win this honor. The following are images of the final 11 at the end of November. Keep in mind that the finalists were given the option to do something fun with their facial hair (or armpit hair) as an extra, which is why some of the candidates have more than one photo. After viewing the photos, please follow this link to vote. Voting closes Sunday at midnight.
This event was run by ASCMC's Student Life Council and is sponsored by The Center for Civic Engagement.
