Buy your Books, Fund a Party

Like the sound of that? With just a few easy steps, you can save money on books (ie. not getting ripped off by Huntley) AND help ASCMC fund all those wonderful events and concerts.

1. Go to your student portal.

2. Log in at the upper left using your email handle (mine is cpeaslee11) and password.

3. Within the student schedule box, open up one of your classes in a new tab.

4. In the new class tabs, click on the “Click here for textbook information.” This will open up a new page with a list of the required textbooks for your class.

5. Now visit Amazon or Ebay using these links (or through the links on the bottom of the Forum homepage) to buy your books (or anything else). 8-9% of your purchase will go towards improving services from your student government.

You’ll probably save even more money if you use Chegg.com to rent your books (they send you the books and give you free postage to send it back to them. Also, for CMC, you can type in promo code CC131480 and get 5% off any order.

    • Wade Vaughn

Wow, thanks Eric. Not only did I save at least $148 (or roughly $2,000,000 if bought at Huntley), but I also planted a tree in Lake Tahoe.
      …Wait, what?

^ Possibly not. It’s a huge hassle, but if you have Amazon Prime, it’s usually cheaper to buy a book new but sell it back on the marketplace “like new”. A book that would cost $50 to rent on Chegg is sometimes about $30 that way.

    • amazon prime

I’m not clear on how having Amazon Prime makes a book cheaper? not being rhetorical or anything – I truly don’t know much about amazon prime.

Chegg sends you pre paid postage. Literally, all you need to do is put your book in an envelope and drop it in a mailbox at the end of the semester.

Usually Amazon (even the “like new” and “used” sections) are more expensive. Amazon Prime is a program in which you sign up to get free shipping on a bunch of items, but it also often does not apply for used books. I say check Chegg out.
