Maureen Dowd may not be the most substantial journalist but her columns are usually thoughtful and funny. I'm definitely interested to see her.

Karl Rove is a criminal of the worst kind.

And hey... even if they're not the most "pure" of characters, both still help to shape our culture and society, and anyone who has the power to do that is certainly worth seeing or listening to in my opinion.

Who said our tuition pays for Rove's visit? It does not. His visit is paid for by <a href="http://www.claremontmckenna.edu/giving/brochure/PSRPS/pg2.php" rel="nofollow">private donors.</a>

As for Dowd, I'm not sure, but I think her visit works the same way.

Most Athenaeum speakers are not paid through our tuition. In fact, many professors and academic programs are not paid through tuition, they are paid for by donors, endowment returns, etc.

This is painful.

Maureen Dowd is not ideologically opposed to Rove. She is a gossip columnist who feeds on the leaks that master media manipulators like Rove sprinkle onto the faces of MoDo and other the suckerfish.

Rove should be in prison for Contempt of Congress, not making money from schools like Claremont McKenna. Students, you are paying thousands of dollars to this criminal. Contempt of Congress is ACTUALLY a crime. Your tuition pays for him to come and lie to you.

And let's not forget that Maureen Dowd takes Rove's leaks whenever they they suit her. Her columns making fun of Kerry's peanut butter sandwiches, making fun of Kerry's windboarding, making fun of Gore's suit, or sigh, or misquotes about the internet/love canal/love story which all fueled the serial exaggerator charge that Rove planted in her hollow head.

She writes about haircuts and windsurfing not politics. She is the biggest waste of space in the NYTimes.

A dancing money and an organ grinder square off in a debate.
Again, your tuition pays for this garbage.
