Fact of the matter is, Dean Huang is a fantastic individual and the cog in our wheel. HE is the reason the campus "runs like butter."
He took time out of his day just so he could meet with a freshman who hadn't even met his advisor yet.
NICE. GUY.

I would be thrilled if he stayed, reluctant to see him go, but at the end of the day, I hope CMC can be happy for whatever makes Dean Huang happy.

(That being said, Please stay Dean Huang!)

I don't understand the hostility that some folks have to this being a government/economics school. It's our comparative advantage over the other liberal arts colleges, which frankly suck.

It's past time for those who want us to be just another liberal arts college to go with Dean Huang.

two things:

first off, let Dean Huang go if he gets the job. It's a great move for him and it's a good opportunity...the reason he's getting this chance is because he is so good at what he does. Embrace his talents and wish him well if it pans out.

And two: I had to laugh about hiring an economist to replace Dean Huang...the LAST thing CMC needs is another economist taking up space on campus. If there is one thing college students generally are not, it is RATIONAL. Applying that truth, I fail to see how an economist could ever be of service as head of DOS. Hire an art historian for god's sake. Now there's something CMC could use: someone who can articulate the value of "point of view" and of "perspective" as it applies to the critical analysis of creativity. This this place would be one step closer to actually being a liberal arts college, rather than just pretending like it all the time.
