i had a pretty colorfully worded comment and they censored me... so here is a more clean version

this is dumb, even big schools like NYU have champagne at their graduation and they have thousands of students graduating. and all liberal arts schools are not doing this. my bro goes to wesleyan and they have a champagne reception. this should send a signal to all the prospective students out there about how they treat students at CMC. the needs of the college come first, students second.

the school could have easily asked for parent/student donations towards restoring champagne and it probably would have worked, but the school does not actually care about student well-being. they just care about whether it looks like they are cutting costs to the outside world.

fortunately for the school, there is no part in the rankings based on how much money is spent on fun little things for students like champagne for seniors. so even though every other school in the country realizes that champagne is something worth having to congratulate students and let parents and students celebrate together, CMC cuts it. because they know they can get away with it. they hid their decision from the students so there would not be an uproar and they know that a cut like this could slip by the rankings people.

the only reason they didn't cut the tent is because they know if the parents get cooked they won't donate more money.
