Collins Vandalized at Night

The main windows of Collins Dining Hall were painted over last night.

Late last night, “Fuck CMC” was painted on the main windows of Collins Dining Hall.

Pomona students are alleged to have committed the act, based on a continued graffiti trail back to the Sagehen campus. But Dean of Students Mary Spellman said there is no evidence to support this claim, and said that Campus Safety was continuing an investigation into the matter.

“I just received a report this morning,” Spellman said, adding she knew nothing else of the event.

The incident comes in light of a long history of similar episodes. CMC students infamously broke into Frary Dining Hall and defaced Prometheus years ago, and Pomona has damaged the Flamson Plaza fountain outside the Athenaeum in recent past.

The graffiti, which included phallic imagery along with the slur, was promptly cleaned up this morning. Today is one of two major on-campus days for prospective students.

    I’m sorry, but was this really necessary to post on the forum? All this does is fuel a continuing graffiti battle… Plus they put a smiley face, this is clearly not malicious

      I was there taking pictures for camp sec last night at 1am when it happened. The smiley face is pretty deceiving.

      The ENTIRE area around collins was defaced, and the portion you see is only part of what reads Fukcmc. The smiley face is under small sharpie writing that said “why would anyone want to go here” and “you suck”.

      on the back doors (pomona side) to collins there was even worse stuff.

      It’s one of the worst, most immature pranks I have ever seen.

      OK, mi a culpa, I didn’t realize the full extent of the incident. But graffiti revenge isn’t the answer, we need to be creative with this retaliation

      When a similar incident occured at Pomona a few years back, it made the front page of TSL. Twice.

      Unfortunately, TSL does not keep an online archive, but if someone can find a Google cache, you’re looking for the frontpage arficles about the vandalism of the Orozco mural and the PSU.

    My biggest hope is that the people get caught and there isn’t any retaliation. Pomona is building a dorm right next to CMC and if we can’t handle even being neighbors….

    I really hope nobody from CMC retaliates. Living well (i.e., continuing to be better than Pomona at pretty much everything) is the best revenge.
