Mt. Baldy in Photos

 

A quick 20 minute drive from Claremont will bring you to the base of the highest peak in the San Gabriel mountains: Mount Baldy. Although the mountain is so close — on clear days it seems to tower over Pitzer — how often do you take the time to appreciate its natural beauty? If you’re like me, pretty much never.

That’s why, last Saturday, this photographer woke up at 5 AM and took the 20 minute drive to capture the mountain at sunrise. A sampling of the best shots are here for your viewing pleasure.

Note: many of these pictures have been taken using a technique known as HDR photography (its really cool, read about it). Also all black and white pictures were originally color.
