Explication

Plip-plop plip-plop click-clack
clatters the onomatopoetic
tones of pen on paper, alliterating
the patter of rain that gave rise to
these words and so many others.

To play with words, rhythm,
and rhyme, quatrains or couplets
that spark the soul—or present political
commentary—instead of poems of run-on
sentences and enjambments
preceding the end-stop.
